Roles and Responsibilities

Underwriting

  • Evaluate and analyse offers and propose the best cover for existing and new clients.
  • Update and renew insurance contracts on behalf of the clients.
  • Assist in timely preparation of coverage summaries & registers for ease of reference.
  • Timely posting of client premiums to ensure e income is booked.
  • Offer advice and other related services to clients.
  • Gather information from clients, assessing their insurance needs and risk profile.
  • Record all transactions related to insurance services in the system on a daily basis
  • Assist in checking policy documents and endorsements from insurance companies to ensure they not have errors and there are no gaps in cover age.
  • Participate in conducting policy audits to ensure complete risk coverage as per client brief.
  • Assist in ensuring full disclosures to clients of policy coverage and highlight necessary exclusions warranties.
  • Assist in facilitating risk management surveys to ensure clients salient risks are identified and minimized.

Claims

  • Ensure collection of accurate information and documents from clients for claims processing
  • Processing new insurance claims notifications to the insurance company
  • Contracting trades people from a network of approved professionals and arranging for them to make reps on the policyholder’s property.
  • Monitoring the progress of claims
  • Identify reasons why full payment may not be made e.g., contract may have an excess.
  • Ensure fair settlement of a valid claim.
  • Ensure customers are treated fairly and that they receive excellent service.
  • Provide regular reports to the Technical Manager.

Client Service

  • Build and maintain ongoing relationship with banks analyst in order to understand the nature of clients “Business.”
  • Plan and implement the activities of the company related to insurance services as given by the hierarchy.
  • Ensure immediate resolutions of client complaints to avoid loss of business.
  • Capture client meeting minutes and file notes to ensure there is common understanding of client needs expectations /advisory.
  • Cultivate a cordial working relationship with insures and other service providers to enable favorable an timely consideration of requests in favor of clients.

Credit Control

  • Formulate a credit control strategy in line with organizational objectives.
  • Monitor the credit position and implement remedial action as and when necessary.
  • Recommend necessary changes to the business credit control policy.

Client Relationship Management

  • Ensure SLAs sent out to clients and are executed in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ensure that strategic visits to clients are conducted as per schedule.
  • Ensure clients Service Level Agreements are maintained within the department and complains are speedily resolved.
  • Act as internal consultant to the business on all matters related to Underwriting.

Experience and personal qualities

Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field
  • ACII professional certification an added advantage
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the Insurance environment
